Parking on Fort Myers Beach

The Town of Fort Myers Beach offers paid parking spaces in designated areas throughout the island.

Please review the parking rules, fees, and permit options before your visit. Be sure to look for signs marking Town parking to avoid confusion with private lots, which may have different rules and rates

Town parking spaces are available at designated beach access points and public lots. Look for signs clearly marking spaces as Town parking. Private lots may charge different rates and are not subject to Town parking rules.

Always pay using the method and instructions posted at the specific parking space you are using to ensure you are paying into the correct parking system.

PARKING RATES AND HOURS

Parking at all Town-managed spaces and beach access points is $5 per hour, plus a 25 cent service fee for each transaction. Parking is enforced daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, including holidays. There is no longer a two-hour meter limit; parking is flexible within your paid session.

We are enforcing paid parking, island wide, in all Town marked parking areas, including beach accesses.

How to Pay

You can pay for parking in several ways. Download the Passport Parking App for iOS or Android. You may also pay through the Passport Parking Website. To pay by text, send the word “PARK” to 30844. A 24/7 automated phone line is also available at 239-420-9496.

After adding the Zone and Space number and adding your card information, please verify that you finalized the session before leaving possession of your vehicle.

International Visitors

The app and online system may not work unless your phone’s location is set to United States and your card is compatible with U.S. banking systems. If you cannot pay online, call the 24/7 automated line at 239-420-9496 to complete your parking transaction.

Handicap Parking

Vehicles with a valid handicap placard or license plate may park for free in Town of Fort Myers Beach designated parking spaces. If Town handicap spaces are full, placard holders may use Town metered spaces free of charge, with a four-hour time limit. Private parking lots are not required to honor this rule. Fees may still apply in privately owned lots, so always check signage to confirm you are in a Town-managed parking space.

Prohibited Parking

  • On the beach
  • In the wrong direction (against the flow of traffic)
  • In a handicapped space without a valid permit

If you are in doubt as to whether you are parked illegally, please contact our office for advice at (239) 463-5888 before you park and leave your car.

Parking Violations & Payments

Pay for your parking ticket HERE

The fine for a parking violation is $77 if paid within 30 days, increasing to $100 after 30 days. Parking violations may be paid online, over the phone, or in person at Town Hall.

To contest a violation, email Parking@FMBGov.com within 10 business days of issuance. Include parking violation number, any Passport Parking receipts, contact information, and any other relevant information.  An administrative fee of $175 may be added to the fine by a Special Magistrate. If you fail to pay the fine in the allotted time or fail to appear to contest the violation, the right to contest the violation will be deemed waived and the Town will have the right to issue an order up to the maximum civil penalty.

Registration Holds

The Town implements registration holds on motorists with outstanding parking violations. Parking violations must be paid within 30 business days. The fine increases from $77 to $100 after 30 days. The registration hold process went into effect on August 15, 2017.  Here's the language that describes it:

"Pursuant to Section 316.1967 (payment of parking violations) the Town will be implementing the Florida State Department of Motor Vehicles registration 'hold' process, which places a hold on vehicle registrations. The hold will remain in place until the fine is paid in full at Town Hall and proof is given so that the hold can be removed. No additional fee is assessed by the Department of Motor Vehicles to clear a vehicle registration hold."

The best way to avoid getting a parking ticket is to be aware of where you park, make sure you are legally parked, and read the instructions on the parking signs.
