Town Council Vacancy – Seat 4

The Town of Fort Myers Beach Town Council is seeking qualified candidates to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Council Member Jim Atterholt (Seat 4), effective December 31, 2025.

The individual appointed to Seat 4 will serve until November 3, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

Qualifications for service as a Town Council Member are outlined in the Town Charter, Section 4.01(c), which requires that each Council Member:

         Be a resident of the Town of Fort Myers Beach

         Be a registered voter

          Have resided within the corporate limits of the Town for at least one (1) year prior to qualifying for election

Financial Disclosure Requirement

Under Florida law, members of municipal governing bodies are required to digitally file a Statement of Financial Interests (Form 1) each year with the Florida Commission on Ethics. Information regarding Form 1 and filing requirements is available through the Florida Commission on Ethics website.

Application Deadline:

Applications must be submitted to the Town Clerk no later than 4:30 PM on February 2, 2026.

Public Posting of Applications:

All submitted applications will be included in the Town Council agenda packet in advance of the scheduled meeting.

Town Council Consideration 

Applicants will be considered by the Town Council during the February 17, 2026 Town Council meeting.

Appointment:

The Town Council is expected to make an appointment to Seat 4 at the February 17, 2026 meeting.
