[ARCHIVED] LeeTran will resume free tram service Thursday, November 21, through Sunday, November 24!

LeeTran will resume free tram service Thursday, Nov. 21, on Fort Myers Beach but due to road construction and the 34th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship, the tram will have slightly detoured routes Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 24.

Road closures and detoured traffic from First to Third streets along Old San Carlos Boulevard, as well as construction on Estero Boulevard near Margaritaville, will result in trams being off their normal route. Instead of a continuous route from Bowditch Point Park to the usual turnaround near the Fort Myers Beach library at Bay Road, one tram will travel from Bowditch Point Park to Lagoon Street and another will travel from Palermo Circle to Bay Road.

The route 410 will also detour slightly around the construction area, causing it to miss nine stops north of Crescent Street. The missed stops will still be serviced by the free beach tram during this detour. The route 410 will continue to travel its regular route south to Lovers Key.

The free tram will run about every 30 to 40 minutes, beginning daily at 8:20 a.m. at Fort Myers Beach Public Library and ending with the last tram leaving Bowditch Point Park at approximately 10:55 p.m.

Regular operations will resume at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Nov 25.
