The Town of Fort Myers Beach participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
NFIP Participation makes our community eligible for PA Categories C-G and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding for projects located within the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). Due to Tropical Storm Debby and to remain in compliance with the NFIP, the Town of Fort Myers Beach must conduct Substantial Damage Estimations (SDEs) within the SFHA after damages occur (regardless of the source of the damage). Thus, you will notice Town of Fort Myers Beach employees continuously driving around the Island performing Substantial Damage Estimations beginning tomorrow and continuing for about a week.
