Apply to serve on Town Council

The Town Council of the Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking a qualified candidate to serve the remainder of Seat 5, which expires November 2024.

On December 26th, 2023, Councilor Bill Veach submitted his resignation to the Town creating a vacancy on the Town Council. During Monday’s Town Council Meeting, the Town Council declared a vacancy on the Town Council and provided direction on the application process to fill the vacancy.

Community members interested in serving on the Town Council must meet the requirements established in the Town Charter including Section 4.01(c): “Each member of the council shall be a resident of the town and a registered voter and shall have resided within the corporate limits of the municipality for a minimum of 1 year prior to qualifying for election”.

As of January 1, 2024, all mayors and elected members of the governing body of a municipality are  required to submit the Full and Public Disclosure of Financial Interests (Form 6) annually.

Those interested in applying are expected to attend all Town Council meetings. Town Councilors also serve as liaisons to a multitude of community and Town committees. The current Town Council regular meeting schedule can be found on the Town Calendar on the Town website.
