LeeTran

Free seasonal LeeTran downtown trolley and Fort Myers Beach trams to resume!

LeeTran will resume the free beach tram on Fort Myers Beach, Nov. 20. The free tram will run about every 30-40 minutes, seven days a week from Fort Myers Beach Public Library to Bowditch Point Park. Service begins at 8:20 a.m. daily at Fort Myers Beach Public Library and ends with the last tram leaving Bowditch Point Park at approximately 10:55 p.m.

LeeTran is the public transit provider for Lee County. LeeTran operates 25 bus routes during season with around 1600 bus stops around Lee County. LeeTran offers a paratransit service known as Passport and an on-demand service known as ULTRA, which has service areas in Bonita Springs and Lehigh Acres. LeeTran has a staff of nearly 300 people. Preparing for Hurricane Season, June 1 - November 30!

Hurricane season begins June 1st - use the checklist below to ensure you are prepared for this year's Hurricane Season! 

  • Pick up a Hurricane Re-entry Pass! 
    • If you already have the GREEN re-entry pass, you do not need a new one. 
    • One form of identification that confirms status as a resident or property owner is required to obtain a pass. 
    • Passes can be picked up at Town Hall, located at 2731 Oak Street, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
  • Sign up for CodeRed Alerts!
    • CodeRed is used for emergency and general alerts such as: Bridge Closures, Boil Water Notices, Natural Disasters, Inclement Weather, and Evacuation Notices.
    • The Town of Fort Myers Beach will be TESTING this alert system on May 1, 2025. Sign up prior to this date to ensure you receive our TEST: Register Here!

Town of FMB Beach Wheelchair Loan Program!


The Town of Fort Myers Beach is excited to announce that TWO beach wheelchairs are now available for loan!

This specialized chair is designed for use on sand, helping residents and visitors with mobility challenges enjoy the beach with ease and comfort.

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, for FREE — just contact our Public Works Department at (239) 765-0202 ext. 1502. Town staff will take a quick photo of your ID at the time of loan.

We’re happy to bring back this initiative as we continue our commitment to making Fort Myers Beach accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

If the Town's wheelchairs are unavailable, many local businesses have some for rent! Check out the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce website for more details.

Town of Fort Myers Beach Outlines Enforcement Process for Unkept Properties

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and welcoming community for all residents. To support this effort, the Town has outlined the enforcement process for unkept properties and the tools available to ensure compliance with community standards.

Unkept Property Enforcement Steps

  1. Report or Identification – Property flagged by residents, inspectors, or Town of Fort Myers Beach Code enforcement Officers.
  2. Inspection – Conducted within 7–10 days by Town of Fort Myers Beach Code Enforcement Officer.
  3. Notice of Violation – Sent within 5 days; includes corrective actions and a reasonable time for compliance (generally 15–30 day deadline).
  4. Compliance Period – Owner contacts the Town of Fort Myers Beach Code Enforcement Division with Notice of Violation corrections or request for extension.
  5. Follow-Up Inspection – If resolved, the case is closed. If not, move to a hearing before the Special Magistrate for the possible imposition of fines and fees/costs. The Current Special Magistrate fee is $250.00, and costs of mailing will be requested from the Special Magistrate if a hearing is requested.
  6. Fines & Citations – Begin as ordered by the Special Magistrate at the hearing.
  7. Town Abatement – The Special Magistrate may direct the Town to abate the violation, including demolition; with the costs billed to the property owner.

  • Hearings before Special Magistrate
  • Abatement Policy – as ordered by the Special Magistrate
  • Lien Placement – as ordered by the Special Magistrate

Town of Fort Myers Beach Announces Departure of Communications Director

The Town of Fort Myers Beach announces that Communications Director Nicole Berzin will be departing the organization to pursue a new opportunity. Nicole has been a valued member of the team, helping to strengthen communication and connection within the Fort Myers Beach community. The Town extends its sincere appreciation for her contributions and wishes her continued success in her future endeavors.

Her last day with the Town will be Friday, November 14, 2025.

“It’s been an incredible experience starting my career with the Town of Fort Myers Beach,” said Communications Director Nicole Berzin. “I’ve truly enjoyed serving this community, growing professionally, and working alongside such dedicated colleagues who care deeply about the island and its residents.”

Bike Safety!

The Town of Fort Myers Beach now allows electric bikes on the sidewalk. Please do your part to keep yourself and others safe by following these rules:

  • Always ride with traffic, never against.
  • Maximum speed is 15mph when on a sidewalk.
  • Wear light and bright clothing, especially in the evening.
  • DO NOT use cell phones or ear buds. 
  • Always yield to pedestrians and walk your bicycle when using a designated crosswalk.
  • Lights must be on the front and rear of the bicycle at night.
  • REQUIRED: audible device - horn, bell, voice saying “ON YOUR LEFT”, etc.
  • ALWAYS yield to pedestrians.

Dogs are welcome on FMB! 

Enjoy FMB with your canine friends, but please remember some important things to make the experience as enjoyable for everyone else as it is for you:

  • Dogs must be on a (6ft max) leash and under the owner’s control at all times. 
  • Owners must clean up after their animals and deposit animal waste in the trash receptacles located at each public beach access. 
  • Dogs are not permitted in the Little Estero Critical Wildlife Area, which includes all wetlands, beaches and land extending southward from the Holiday Inn to the boundary signs at Mulholland Point.
