6221 Estero Blvd

We look forward to continued progress as we move forward with plans to demolish the existing building, add drainage to alleviate flooding in this area, and create a parking lot for our new Town Hall.

Permitting

DON'T FORGET:

Residential trade permit fees waived, extended through December 31, 2024!

On October 14, 2024, the Town of Fort Myers Beach announced that residential trade permit fees, for drywall and additional minor repairs, for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton damage would be waived from October 15 – November 14. The Town has now extended the waiving of fees until December 31, 2024. Per FEMA regulations, even though the fee is waived, a permit is still required to be pulled.

Please see below for a list of items you do NOT need a permit for:

  • Floor covering such as tile or carpet
  • Minor cabinetry which does not include any electrical or plumbing fixtures
  • Painting
  • Portable heating or cooling appliances

Although you do not need to pull a permit for these items you will need to submit a cost backup worksheet.  IT IS A FEMA REQUIREMENT THAT ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ANY REPAIR OR IMPROVEMENT TO AN EXISTING STRUCTURE MUST HAVE A COST SHEET SUBMITTED REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT.

Cost backup worksheet is available for print (page 13 of 14): Trade-Permit-Application-Fillable-7-13-2023

As we assess the homes and businesses on the Island, please be smart and call our permitting staff at 239-765-0202 or email us at buildingpermits@fmbgov.com with any questions you may have. Staff is also available for in-person assistance, Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. It’s always better to reach out to us before we have to reach out to you.
